This Picture - Worth More Than a Thousand Words

I think this picture taken from the North Face Endurance Challenge sums up the day and the challenge - a complete uphill battle.

For recovery, I joined Frank and Emmy at Captain Lawrence Brewery yesterday for some beer tasting (more like guzzling) that Jess would be proud of. You can read all about it and see some pictures of our visit at Frank's blog.

  2. GREAT PIC!! But one question . . .why 2 watches/Garmins? (is that other one the 405?)

  3. Beer would be the only incentive for climbing that incline! Holy cats!

  4. Jess - That was an easy incline...not that many slippery rocks. I drank one beer for that one, and several more for the others !

Marcy - Good question. Actually, on of the GAC members from Boston also had two watches. Yes, one is the Garmin 305. I knew I'd be out there for a long time and wasn't sure if the Garmin would last, so I wore a nike watch (no gps or distance) and ran the stopwatch just in case the Garmin died.

  5. You look like me with an ironman watch and a 405 on the other arm. You totally rock for completing this race. I was on line reading about it and it sounded very challanging.

  6. Tony - first of, congrats on making it as far as you did. bear Mtn. was my first hike in NY area...fond memories. Secondly, I heard lots of rumors, and grace you handled and described been stopped is wonderful...pitty would not do much good anyway, so kudos to you. Third, I was in NY last weekend of November and thought of running the Rockies...but don't know either your phone or email!!! So if you keep in touch, darling, you have a better chance to see me running wild and hollering (I did scare dude Mike with my antics).
