Windy, Windy, Windy

We had some sick rain and wind last night into this morning here in the burbs north of New York City. When I looked out my window last night the wind was so strong that the rain was moving sideways. Thankfully, the weather did not kill my DIRECTV satellite reception, allowing the girls to watch their regularly scheduled Tuesday evening of American Idol.

There are still wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour, which made this morning's 6-mile run interesting. I run a short loop course on weekday mornings, thus, I was running head on into the wind on one side of the loop (which is mostly uphill). Speed training has seemed to work a bit - my average pace on "good paced" runs is getting lower and lower.

Umstead 100 is only a few days away. Despite the hectic travel schedule associated with it, I'm psyched to get out there and pace Meredith.

A few interesting notes : on this day in 1792 Congress passed the Coinage Act, establishing the United States Mint. Today also happens to be National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, International Children's Book Day, Kick Butts Day, and Reconciliation Day. Take your pick...I'm having a PB&J sandwich.

  3. Mark - so far, David Cook is the best, but I don't see him winning in the end. Too many little girls will vote for David Archuleta.

March - I can't wait for the warmer weather !

  8. my 10 year old came home from school last week and announced he never wanted PB and J again for lunch (what I make him most days)--so I now do stoned wheat thins with PB...the problem is that he doesn't like anything else! It's just our household staple!! and BTW -I ate a piece at every aid station in the 60K. -emmy
