After two days of travelling for work I am back, and that means training is back on track. This morning was an 8.5 mile session of speed work that felt great. My final long run before GTR 100 will be this Sunday at the Turkey Swamp 50k. A lot of friends are going to be there, so, it should be a nice fun long run. After that....my favorite part of training....taper time.
Meanwhile, while I am a football fan, I am so sick of hearing about the Brett Favre saga. Brett is in meetings with Green Bay....Brett has left the building and gone to his home....Brett is back in meetings....Brett went to the bathroom and his return is uncertain....It seems as if every sports-related television and radio channel is running the Brett Favre saga 24/7, following the whereabouts of this 38 year old twice retired, twice unretired quarterback. Now CNN.com has is running as its lead storey - "Packers To Send Favre to New York Jets". CNN.com, not SI.com (the sports-related arm of CNN). Not to take anything away from Brett Favre and his accomplishments over the course of his NFL career, but, come on, shouldn't we be focusing more on the fact that Lisa Marie Presley is expecting twins, or that Wesley Snipes was asked to reimburse the government $217,000 in court costs in connection with his tax evasion conviction, or even better, that Snoop Dogg tour bus riders were arrested on marijuana possession charges ? Shouldn't these stories top the Brett Favre saga ?????
