Quick Training Update

Things have been a bit hectic the past week.  Our firm's midtown NYC office is moving downtown (yuk !) on Friday, which means that my office is in shambles and being boxed up for the move.  The move is going to add an additional 20-30 minutes to my morning and evening commutes.  My office will basically be shut down for the move on Friday, and that coincides perfectly with the trip up to Virgil, New York for the Iroquois Trail 100.

On the training front, things are moving along slowly.  I put in my longest run since the GTR100 on Sunday - only a 9 miler in muggy, humid heat.  I felt somewhat sluggish, but at least the knee is holding up.

I seem to be wasting a lot of my time watching the NY Mets blow leads every day.  I should just give up on this team (I should have last year when they blew a 7 game lead with 17 games to play), but I suppose I'm a glutton for punishment.  There is a 3-way battle for the playoffs shaping up between the Mets, Brewers and Bryon Powell's beloved Phillies.  Bryon doesn't know it yet, but if he continues to rub in the fact that the Phillies came back to destroy the Mets last year, and are creeping in on them again this year, I will be a miserable pacer/crewer !!  :)))

I suppose a weak Let's Go Mets is appropriate.

  1. Fine, Tony. For the rest of the week, I'll try to focus on the fact that the Phillies will come back to destroy the Mets this year. ;-)

I suppose this would be an appropriate time to mention that the Phils are now only one (1) game behind the Muts!

  2. I wish I could be a fly on one of your shoulders when Tony is pacing. Should be some very entertaining conversation going on there. Best of luck Bryon. Kick butt!

  4. The humidity is really killer right now. I didn't run 100 miles and I'm having a hard time;-)

Are you pacing at Iroquois? Gee, I hope you are not racing yourself!!!!!!!

  6. Yes, go mets. A lifelong fan, so I'm used to disappointment.. Until last year, when they brought "disappointment" to a new level: they used to blow 7-run leads, now they blow 7-game leads.

Good luck at Iroquois.. have fun!

  8. Heat and humidity can make runs like a 9 miler feel twice as long!

  10. Glad to hear that things are going well for your sluggesh running. Hopefully the humidity will pass and make for a great fall running season.

  11. First I find out you root for the Hurricanes...and now this. Actually, the Mets are one of those teams everyone hates to love, but does. Unlike the Yankees, which everyone just hates (well, at least if you're a lifelong Red Sox fan.)
