Weekend In Review

With a week to go before the Marine Corps Marathon, which I will be using as a historic and scenic training run with my friend Kristen (with Bryon Powell likely to join us), this weekend was perfect as far as training goes.  On Saturday Kristen and I put in about 17 miles of hilly trail running.  It was a nice opportunity for me to try Succeed Clip2 on a "longer" run.  So far, I happen to like Clip2.  I mix it with 1/2 water and 1/2 sports drink to create a decent taste.  It mixes very well - no clumps or chunks of powder accumulating at the bottom of the bottle.  It looks as if Clip2 will be my drink of choice at Javelina Jundred 100 in November.

On Sunday I participated in the 28 Annual Harry Chapin Memorial Run Against Hunger in Croton-on-Hudson.  The Harry Chapin Memorial Run Against Hunger seeks to focus attention on hunger and poverty issues and raise money for hunger relief both locally and overseas with a competitive 10K race and a community oriented run for children and families.  The fun run was filled with what seemed to be hundreds of kids (awesome to seem them all out there).  The 10k took a hilly route over the historic Croton Dam.

It was an absolutely wonderful run for a great cause.  Anyone wishing to donate to this cause can still do so at Active.com

  4. Running makes much more sense when you do it for a great cause! I can't believe you're running a marathon again - but when you get back, lets do a long run a the Rockies again. I'm sure Stella would join us, as she still talks about our first run there:-)

  5. Anthony --perfect weather yesterday for Harry Chapin..Frank needs to get some succeed tablets. will give him the webesite. Enjoy this 'rest' week. Both Ed and Lee from TRR are entered in the Rockies 5K on Nov. 8 and are waiting to see how it goes, then maybe will ask them about providing a race venue..

  6. So many things to congratulate you on...beginning with the Baltimore Marathon -- didn't realize Baltimore even had hills. And big high five for becoming a Marathon Maniac. Well deserved, I think.

Good luck this weekend. MCM is one of my favorites and especially a treat if the weather's good and the crowds turn out. Even when they don't due to stormy weather, it's still a blast to move through so many great sites.
