2009 Badwate Training : 60 Days to Go

Sick.  A cold, the flu, whatever....I've got it.  It is typically, in my household, that whatever ailment first hits the 6 year old, quickly moves to the 8 year old before settling in on its primary target.....me.  Stuffy head, raspy voice, a tissue box a day, DayQuil, NyQuil, Benadryl, Robitussin DM, Tylenol, Advil....you name it, I'm taking it. The timing simply sucks.  Tomorrow, my brother and I are heading to the Keys 100 to crew/pace several runners.  The hope is to get in plenty of hot, road pacing miles.  I will also get to catch up with Bob Gentile (he is pacing and crewing also), as well as meet up with 3 of the 5 Badwater crew members, Jen and Lane Vogel, and Brian Krogmann.

Training continues to go well, including a few days of both AM and PM workouts.  Unfortunately, today's AM run took a back seat to being sick.

  1. I had that a few days ago. Hopefully, yours will be like mine and will dissipate in 48 hours.

    Rest up and feel better!

  2. Goes without saying but try not to "run yourself down."

  3. Take it easy. Good news is that it's probably not the flu if you are still able to move around and can travel tomorrow.

  4. Hope you get better soon. Your body could use a small break anyway. You will come back that much stronger.

  5. Think of illness as training to suffer well.

  6. YOU JERK! You lied to me. You WERE sick before the keys. Clearly it was the .0003 second I saw you on the course that got me sick, not going out to Duvall St after the race....
