While many folks are running the 47th JFK 50 Mile in Maryland this weekend, I have decided to add one more event to my 2009 adventure, the NYRR Knickerbocker 60k in Central Park. This event does have some sentimental value. It was my first ever ultra event and will be my 28th ultra in the last 4 years.
Unfortunately, the course leaves a lot to be desired. A 1.46 mile out and back is followed by 9 laps of a 4-mile loop in Central Park (basically transverse-to-transverse). Yikes. Round and round we go. Well, it will at least be a nice 37.2 mile training run, as well as an opportunity to catch up with some friends.
Best of luck to everyone running JFK (and anything else) this weekend.
