It was a beautiful, cool and crisp morning, perfect to test out a new long run route. Only 20 minutes from the house, I had never been to Rockland Lake State Park. When Steve offered it up as an alternative to yesterday's "danger" filled adventure, I jumped all over it. Despite being a 3 mile paved loop with no hills, it was actually quite pleasant. The view of the lase, located on a ridge of Hook Mountain above the west bank of the Hudson River, was gorgeous.
This place must be packed in the summer - it has a gigantic 24,140 square foot swimming pool with diving boards (more than 10,000 square feet larger than an Olympic size pool!), picnic tables, grills, a car top boat launch dock, boat and bicycle rentals, hiking trails with breath-taking views of the Hudson Valley, and six tennis courts.
Glad you liked it. Wish I could have run more than a single lap with you's. You'll have to come back in the springtime to see the non-flat non-asphalt parts. (:
