It has been a little while. I'm off to Arizona tomorrow for my third go at the Javelina Jundred. Check out the 2008 Race Preview Post for more details about the course. The race web-site will have live updates, a periodic video and chat box, and twitter updates throughout the weekend.
My prior two visits to Javelina were a blast. This is truly a party atmosphere, complete with a costume contest (yes, I have a costume this year, for as long as I can bear wearing it). A bonus - another event with Rick Gaston at the pacing helm. Now, if he were able to hook me up with another Umstead-like performance, cartwheels could be in order. Either way, a little fun in the desert with a ton of familiar faces is just what the doctor ordered.
Here's a little taste of what could be in store for the weekend - a 15 minute documentary that was filmed at the 2009 event, courtesy of Scottsdale Community College.

What kind of costume will you be wearing? I want to know so I can say "hi" when you lap me.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the desert.
ReplyDeleteGot get it, Tony! How about a sub-20?!!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteSome sort of jungle/cave man outfit. I don't know how may laps it will last. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Olga/Dan. I don't know about sub-20 this time. :)
This sounds like a lot of fun for the first 80 miles. Good luck and look forward to the report.
