Badwater Training Week In Review (May 2 to May 8)

This was a second straight solid week of training.  On the strength training front, it was a recovery week in the P90X program, meaning a week of core, yoga, stretching and cardio.  Unfortunately, I only followed the P90X script once, doing 40 minutes of the Core Synergistics workout Thursday night.  I can see a problem with trying to follow the P90X program while training for major ultra endurance events - lack of time.  Muscle-specific session start up again this week...let's see how much we actually can get in.

Monday, May 2
6:00 PM - 42 minutes on the stationary bike.

Tuesday, May 3
5:15 AM - 6.00 miles in 50:45.

Wednesday, May 4
4:34 AM - 7.00 miles in 1:08:04.

Thursday, May 5
4:57 AM - 4.75 miles in 47:23.  Easy run with Eric as he tested out his injury to see if a go at the North Face Endurance Challenge at Bear Mountain would  be possible.

6:00 PM - Pressed for time tonight, but managed to get in 40 minutes of P90X Core Synergistics.

Friday, May 6
2:22 PM - 7.50 miles in 1:02:37 (8:21 pace).  Had some fun on the trails with some nice hill climbs, keeping a decent pace after an easy warm-up mile.  Splits of 9:30, 8:51, 8:14, 8:23, 8:08, 8:02, 7:29.

Saturday, May 7
5:56 AM - 25.05 miles in 4:01:22 (9:38 pace) with Micah at Rockefeller. A gorgeous sunny morning with temps in the 60s.  The goal for this run was to keep it to a 10 min./mi. pace.  A little on the fast side early on but consistent and I'm feeling good.

Sunday, May 8
6:04 AM - 8.00 miles in 1:11:55 (8:59 pace).  Short, Mother's Day recovery run with a few nice hills.  After starting with two, slower, "climbing" miles of 9:50 and 9:29, finished with splits of 8:56, 9:00, 8:53, 8:45, 8:30 and 8:28.  Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.
