Zahab & Hawke To Run Non-Stop Run Across Baffin Island

[Updated 8/23/2012 @ 6:40 PM to add link to the live tracking website.]

Tomorrow morning (Friday, August 24), Canadian ultrarunning legends Ray Zahab and Ferg Hawke begin their quest to complete a non-stop crossing of Baffin Island through the Akshayuk Pass.  The route may only be 100 kilometers, but it is an extremely difficult Arctic stretch that typically takes 8 to 10 days to trek across.  Zahab previously ran the pass in 27 hours.

The run is dedicated to supporting the upcoming Impossible to Possible (i2P) Botswana Youth Expedition this fall.

I2P’s mission is to use the platform of adventure and technology to educate, inspire, and empower the global community to reach beyond their perceived limits and make positive changes in the world.  Its vision is to cultivate a generation of leaders who, through direct experience, education and the use of groundbreaking technology, are prepared to pioneer social and environmental action throughout the world.
